While CBD has not been clearly linked to psychosis, in cases where it is made from the hemp flower, such as the one found in keif buds, it can contain 47.8% CBD and less than 0.3% THC. In 1982, a study on interactions between THC and CBD in healthy volunteers provided the first evidence that CBD could have antipsychotic properties. Our group administered oral CBD concomitantly with a high dose of THC to investigate whether CBD could mitigate THC-induced anxiety. Surprisingly, in addition to alleviating anxiety, CBD reduced psychotic symptoms commonly induced by THC.
7.Although more studies are needed on CBD and schizophrenia, a good deal of research suggests that CBD could be useful for people with schizophrenia.
